Why IPL Health Staffing Supported the NAMI Walk in San Diego

At IPL Health Staffing, we believe that caring for people goes beyond placing the right candidate in the right role. It means showing up for the communities we serve, the professionals we support, and the causes that make a real difference in people's lives.
That is why we are proud to announce that our team is fundraised and walked alongside NAMI San Diego in their annual NAMIWalk last week, one of the most recognized mental health awareness events in the country.

Why Mental Health Matters

Mental health awareness is not a trend. It is a conversation that needs to happen every single day, in workplaces, in homes, and in communities. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI),approximately 1 in 5 adults in the United States experiences a mental illness in any given year. That statistic alone tells us that mental health touches nearly every family, every team, and every organization in the country.
For healthcare professionals, this reality hits especially close to home. The people who dedicate their careers to caring for others, whether they work in clinical settings, research labs, or administrative roles, often carry an enormous emotional weight. Burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress are well-documented challenges within the healthcare workforce, yet they are still widely underdiscussed. Supporting mental health and wellbeing both inside and outside of the workplace is not a luxury for healthcare workers — it’s a necessity.
At IPL Health Staffing, we work with healthcare professionals every single day and see firsthand how much they give of themselves. Recognizing that mental health is a critical part of overall wellbeing shapes how we approach our relationships with candidates and clients alike.

Why We Walked With NAMI

The NAMIWalk is NAMI's signature fundraising event, designed to raise funds for mental health programs, reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, and build community among those who have been personally affected by mental health challenges. Walkers come together not just to log miles, but to stand in solidarity with the millions of people who live with mental health conditions and with the loved ones who support them.
When our team learned about the opportunity to participate in NAMI San Diego's walk, the decision was simple. Our company was built on a people-first foundation, and few causes reflect that value more directly than mental health advocacy. We’re not walking simply to check a box or participate in a one-day event. We walked because the work NAMI does year-round, from free support groups and education programs to crisis helplines and public policy advocacy, creates real, lasting change in people's lives.
Supporting mental health initiatives like NAMIWalks also sends a message to our candidates, clients, and partners that we care about the whole person, not just their professional qualifications.

Building Connections Beyond Business

One of the things that makes participating in a community event like the NAMI Walk so meaningful is what it does for the people inside our organization, not just outside of it. Walking together, fundraising together, and rallying around a shared cause creates bonds that go deeper than daily work tasks. It gives our team a chance to reflect on why we do what we do and to connect with one another in a way that goes beyond the office.
Healthcare workforce wellbeing is a topic our team thinks about constantly. We recruit for organizations that are navigating staffing challenges, burnout crises, and shifting patient demands. Being active participants in supporting mental health initiatives keeps us grounded in the human side of healthcare, and it reinforces the kind of company culture we are committed to building at IPL Health Staffing.
Giving back to the communities where we live and work is not separate from our business values — it’s an extension of them.
Our participation in the NAMI Walk is one step in an ongoing commitment to supporting meaningful causes that reflect our values. Mental health advocacy is a conversation that does not end when the walk does. We are committed to continuing to encourage open dialogue around mental health within our organization, with our partners, and across the healthcare communities we serve.
